vegtable oil would be an idea. What will we use instesd of oil when the Earth's oil reserve runs out?
It will never run out . The plants take in the CO2 and gives us the O2 and keeps the C. When the leaves fall off and float down the river to the delta where it deteriorates into gas ,oil ,and after a long time coal. The thing is use coal for power plants with scrubbers to be as clean as possible. The plants have taken care of the CO2 problem. Look for the life cycles in nature.
It won't run out. But it will get expensive. And global warming will be here.
We can do a lot better job of energy conservation. Not stopping doing things, but doing them more efficiently.
Nuclear is the only thing that can replace large amounts of oil right now. Solar, wind, and biofuels can help. Possibly ';clean'; coal.
It's a massive problem. Everyone has a pet solution, but we'll need all the available tools.
Good book about this:

in response to Johnnie B- your answer is completely flawed...while technically what you said is true, you forgot to mention that it takes thousands upon millions for that carbon to form into a substance that we know how to use. If you're reasoning is true, maybe I should go under the big tree I have in my back yard and see if I have an oil field.
sugarcane. They're already using it in Brazil.

I don't think we have much to worry about, however, water would be a good substitute.
