Difficult to say. ExxonMobil has about 22.4 billion barrels of proven reserves according to their figures. But oil companies have been known in the past to make mistakes in this department. But when you divide the reserves by the number of outstanding shares of stock the figure is not so impressive. about 4 barrels per share.
Apache has about 2.3 billion barrels of proven reserves. That works out to about 7 barrels per share. So on a per share basis Apache is in better shape than Exxon, but on a total reserve basis Exxon has about 10x the amount of reserves.Which American oil company is in the best shape as far as reserves, and future upside potential?
i like HessWhich American oil company is in the best shape as far as reserves, and future upside potential?
According to the Independent Petroleum Producers Association independent companies produce about 68 percent of the oil (and 82 percent of the natural gas). Refiners purchase the oil. But I would guess of the majors Exxon has the most reserves.
Valero Energy is worth a look, not as large as the big boys, but still very solid.
Please Note!! this is not a tip, and for the record I hold shares of Valero and have done for 3 years.
