Look, opening up the outer shelf for drilling would have a nominal impact on prices, at best.....putting an additional 70 million barrels on the market would have a greater immediate impact on the price of oil and thusly gas.





This worked very well during the first gulf war, the price per barrel plummeted by roughly 33%. Obviously that drastic of a drop wouldn't be realized today, but its still there.

They wanted to make it appear that Republicans were hurting Americans on the price of gas. Releasing oil from the SPR would do nothing for prices, not even 2 cents a gallon, and that's not the purpose of the SPR anyway.
Probably because they wanted to assure that it would pass a presidential veto if need by. If adding more oil to the market is a priority why didn't the GOP support the vote?
Because it would have required voting on drilling and they are desperate to stop that.





The spr is only enough for 3 days. They thought it would effect supply, but it wouldn't. And speculators are smart enough to know that.
It's election time. Everything from now on will be maneuvering on both sides of the aisle.
Because the more they foster economic chaos .. the more they think they can make Barry look like a faithhealer if he gets elected ..
