We use over 20 million barrels of oil every day. we can't pull that much out of the ground that fast. We could grow enough but that's not on Georgie's agenda (trees and hemp don't feed his fat a$$ oil buddies).

Hydro-electric is the way to go. They already have them now. They are cheaper to buy and run on water and a battery.
Our government needs to get out of bed with the oil companies and stop delaying alternative energy research. We have the ways, means, and technology. We are falling behind the rest of the world strictly for the benefit of oil company profits.
The key word is reserve, we need to maintain a reserve that will enable us to operate the longest time without foreign oil.
