No one will really know until we pump it all out. But by then, nobody will really be interested. Is it true that the US has the largest natural reserves of oil but never uses it?
NO.
Look at the graph I linked to in my sources. The US is far behind other countries as far as oil reserves. What you may be talking about is the US strategic reserve which is oil the government has set aside in case of emergency or war when we would need that oil to keep the country / military running. I'm not sure on the exact number of barrels in that reserve but it's quite a few, perhaps the biggest of any government. But as far as natural reserves, the US is not blessed with as much oil as other countries like Saudi Arabia, Russia, Canada. That's why we import so much.
In Alaska the soil is black with oil but to refine it was too expensive till recently. The reserves in place are equal to Saudi Arabia and when all of us run out of oil, the US will be exporting and reaping the wealth of the black gold, much like the gulf countries are doing now.
They would not even tap into it. We are paying almost $3.00 a gallon and they have an almost 100% reserve. That could give all of us gas for years!!!!
Yes. The one in Alaska is the WORLD'S Largest! Apart from all the sundry ones in Texas, California etc.
Yup.. Sad isnt it?
