Why do people want us to drill oil on our reserves once we run out of that then what are we going to drill ?

The idea is to use the oil, and then maybe tax the profits of oil to use to fund research or develop alternative fuel.





As green as people want to be, we still need jobs regardless if they are temporary. Jobs do wonders for the economy.





Another reason for drilling is to start the mode for our country's independence from another country's oil, not to mention the money that we would save.





Think of it like water. There is no new water on this planet; it's the same water that has been here for millions of years. If oil is a product of earth ( like water) then the planet can handle it.

At the current burn rate even the most optimistic estimate has us using the world鈥檚 supply of oil in less than 40 years. Oil is a limited resource that is way too important to burn in cars. We can make autos that get much better gas mileage or use alternate energy. Just think about the products made from oil like plastic imagine living with out them.





The oil companies want you to drill, drill, drill. Only 3% of the worlds oil supply is within the US yet we use 25% of the worlds oil products. Not only that but most experts say 3 鈥?7 years to derive any benefit from drilling now.





The US dollar has lost 40% of its value compared to the Euro in the last 6 years. If this administration hadn鈥檛 trashed the economy we would be paying $2.40 a gallon now.





The short answer is its all about big oil picking your pocket.

The idea is that drilling our own oil will buy us time to develop and perfect alternative fuel sources. If we're going to be using oil anyway for the next few decades, why not drill our own rather than buying it from countries that hate us? Think of all the money that would go back into the US economy rather than lining the pockets of oil sheiks and terrorists.

oil costs what it costs because none of us seem to be able to do without it. oil, either as an energy cost or actually a part(plastic), makes up some part of everything you have, touch, or do.





everybody can talk the talk. few can walk the walk. and i do mean walk.





don't drive so much. walk. turn off some lights. line dry your clothes. recycle everything you can.





talk about big oil or big government all you want. IT IS YOUR OWN FAULT!!!!!!





we have curbside recycling and use it.


i have a low speed electric vehicle that gets the equivalent of nearly 200 MPG. i use it for all my in town miles.


we use compact flourescent bulbs


the AC and heat are set to uncomfortable but bearable.


landscape waste(grass clippings, shrub prunings, etc) from our yard, stay in our yard/garden as nutrients.


we grow some of our own vegetables.





i don't do this to be ';green';. i do it because it is cheaper. just happens to be green.





quitcherbellyachin and do something yourself.
because we don't care about next year.


we give tax cuts to the rich, paid for by deficits.


that is, we steal from our children to make the rich even richer.


and you think we care about oil in 10 years? really?





i mean, sometime oil will be $1,000 a barrel.


but that's okay, we here in the US drilled and sold off all our oil around the world at a couple dollars a barrel.


that's because we're so smart.
For such a modern species as we think we are..ipods..internet..instant communication..etc., we are still looking down into the earth for that messy oil like we did in the early 19th century until now. We should be looking up to the sky for the energy that is hitting us from the sun FOR FREE! Or the wind power. If we drill here at home and use our reserves, we can remove our need for foreign oil why we perfect the alternative fuel sources we have all been hearing about. We would have all the bugs worked out for alternative energy vehicles long before we used our own reserves up in their entirety
