Is the true reason for staying in Iraq that they have the 2nd largest oil reserves in the world?

No. It's because Iraq has THE LARGEST, non-peeked reserve in the world. Oil contracts to these reserves had been granted to French, German and Russian interests given the satisfaction of WMD inspections. Funny (isn't it) that Cheney didn't give these inspections enough time to complete before invading and nullifying said contracts. I think the idea was that, by now, Exxon Mobile and BP would be pumping away....Is the true reason for staying in Iraq that they have the 2nd largest oil reserves in the world?
Follow the bread crumbs here...

1980s, President Reagan reflagged oil tankers passing through the region to insure the world's economy wouldn't get sunk.

Desert Shield/Storm because Saddam invaded Kuwait for oil and a bigger sea port. Hostilities ended with U.N. sanctioned Cease Fire Agreement.

At least 17 santions of U.N. agreement broke by Saddam.

U.N. refused to uphold Cease-Fire Agreement because key members (French, German and Russians) were accepting bribes from Saddam for U.N.s ';Food For Oil'; Program.

Second Gulf war errupts, coalition forces lead by U.S and Great Britain.

Syria and Iran begin sending in suicide bombers to destabilize region and start sectarian war. If they win, they will be incharge of major oil supplies for entire world and world economy.

Get the picture? Have fun feeding yourself if they win. Just put a gun to your head and pull the trigger. Is the true reason for staying in Iraq that they have the 2nd largest oil reserves in the world?
NO, its NEVER been about OIL!
OBVIOUSLY
plain and simple.........yes!the american people were dooped, big time.
That's a possible reason.

I've heard all kinds of valid reasons... everything from Saddam's plans to change Iraq's currency to the fact he tried to have Bush Sr assassinated.

I honestly doubt we will ever know the 'real' reason 100%.
No. Next question.
