What would the long term effects on drilling U.S. domestic oil reserves?

I would like to know a sort of ballpark timeline.

The effects on the political, economical, environmental, and social aspects.

I am very intrested what is going to happen in the next 10 years.

kinda worried too...What would the long term effects on drilling U.S. domestic oil reserves?
IF we do drill pump prices go shooting down people are all around happy but a few winnie liberals cry and wine the whole tile even thoguht the rest of America thinks a godd idea.....As for if we dpn't do it pump prices keep going up with no end in site......we are the only nation with vast oil reserves who doesn't drill .....we should we look like idiot importing most of our oil when we got plenty here

The argument that the enivorment will suffer is total bullshit other nations drill there oil but yet there envirimont is as good or better than our.....(ie.Canada and Britian)What would the long term effects on drilling U.S. domestic oil reserves?
We would drastically lower the price of gas.

We would not kill all the animals and have an oil spill once a month like the Leftist environmentalists would like you to believe.

We would stop sending billions of dollars to countries who are probably supporting terrorists.

We would buy time to develop alternative fuels so we can switch to non fossil fuels.

But this all goes against the desire of the Democrats who have been taken over by tree-huggers; to keep us in their grip of high gas prices so we are forced, by lack of fuel, to cut down on pollution and help the ';global warming'; problem. They can't get emissions limits passed by vote, they'll force them on us this way.
It is a national security issue. 70% of our oil is imported and going up each year. If OPEC decided to stop selling oil to us, without domestic sources, our economy would falter, perhaps fail.
