National Oil Reserve was created after the 1970's oil embargo to protect the country. Why do they want to tap this for distribution now, and leave us dry if there is another interruption in oil supplies? Dem Sen. from New Jersey thinks this is better than drilling now.Why are certain Dems pushing to tap Nation's oil reserves?
Drilling now is a better idea. Despite the hoopla the democrats are making, it will NOT take 10+ years to get the oil out. If it did, our oil companies would be going out of business.
As far as the oil reserves go, those people who suggest tapping them now are irresponsible. Those reserves are for emergency use, not price control. Why are certain Dems pushing to tap Nation's oil reserves?
When the oil reserves was establish is was in response to some Arab OPEC nations not selling oil to the US and other Israel allies. There was a shortage or oil. There is no shortage of oil. As a matter of fact we get more oil than we can possible refine to gas. The shortage is in US refineries unable to keep up with the daily demand for gasoline. Releasing oil reserves, drilling for more oil..etc will not solve the refinement problem.
Who ever is pushing the release of oil reserves is making an bad decision. I haven't seen any source of who you is stating this.
I smell yet another attempt to sabotage our nation. We cannot be taken over by ';the new world order'; if we are strong and independent. If they deplete our emergency reserves and we DO have a catastrophic emergency we will have no choice but to give up and the U.S. will be just another footnote in the history of the world.
Admittedly, it's a knee-jerk reaction to people screaming about gas prices. But in that way, it's similar to the way Republicans are arguing that allowing more offshore drilling and drilling in ANWAR will bring down gas prices any time soon. Both are misguided, partison attempts at pandering to the voters.
This has been done before to ease the price of gasoline. It works rather well even if they would release only 10%. It is almost full which hasn't happened in a long time. The price of oil is headed down right now and replacing the reserves would cost less that what is in it now very likely.
No it would not reduce prices either, everyone alrerady knows that that oil is already in the system and bought and as sson as it's used the effect is back to square 1
But I guess we can keep releasing 10 percent a year until we come up with ';Alternative'; fuels huh.............
Sadly, the oil reserves we have will take about 7$/gallon to get to our car tanks. So, Gas prices will have to go up significantly before we'll have any use for them.
We haven't had an interruption in oil supplies since the 70s and we can refill it easily. Why not glut the US with a little of the reserves to lower prices? Certainly better than a gas tax holiday.
I always say, ';Follow the money';. Do you think they could be more interested in financial gain, than in doing what is best for the country? I can't think of another good reason and, I am a Democrat.
A national emergency would become a national disaster if such frivolous use of oil reserves became the norm. A foolish, I want it now, attitude.
Cause they are ignorant to the situation and they have no problem putting this country's energy policy at even greater risk than it already is.
It's just a classic democrat meaningless gesture!
Because our country is fighting two wars, those Dems feel we should deplete our strategical supply.
Liberal logic at work
They're all idiots. They will do anything but help the citizens.
it is silly to do, we need that for emergencies liek when Saudi Arabia boycotts us
That oil is being saved for a rainy day.......in case you haven't noticed......It's raining.
