Why doesn't Bush open up the federal oil reserves to combat the gas prices?

Because that would anger his friends in the oil industry who are getting rich off the high prices. Why doesn't Bush open up the federal oil reserves to combat the gas prices?
The federal oil reserves would have little impact on world oil prices. And we do not need more oil, we have plenty of it. We do need more refined product like gasoline. Also there are other factors involved in the world oil price other than the supply of oil. Speculation in the commodities market, the same process that is raising the price of wheat, copper and most other commodities, is driving up the price of both oil and gasoline (both traded commodities). And then there is the weak dollar which drives up the price of imported oil.Why doesn't Bush open up the federal oil reserves to combat the gas prices?
Federal oil reserves are a savings if you will of oil, it is for an emergency and if depleted could leave the country unprepared in the case of a real emergency, especially since hurricane season is fast approaching.

Why are we not drilling here? Why road block after road block for new refineries, also why have we sunk billions upon billions into a bio fuel that is insufficient and endangering our food sources? You may want to look at the big picture instead of a fragment of the problem.

Bush irks me to my bones but the Democratic Congress makes the decisions on refineries, bio fuels, new drilling's.....
This is my take on it:

The federal oil reserve is there in case of an emergency. Higher prices is not an emergency, as we still have access to oil.
That would only be a temporary solution. When the reserves run out, the prices would skyrocket back to the original ones, likely even higher.
I don't know. But it is the Democrats who have blocked the

United States from drilling for more oil.

So why have the Democrats caused us to rely on oil imports?
I think Bush sucks in every way possible.

It would be a mistake to tap into the reserves for anything less than a national emergency.

THEY ARE RESERVES!

Think like a chess player and you'll see why we should keep them as a backup.
Yes.

Because it's a PHONY ISSUE.

Al Gore's Goal is now $6.00 a gallon gas by Jan 01, 09.

Cool!!!!

Get those gas prices Higher, Democrats.

Go for it.
Why should a man that is in the oil business stop the high price of oil that is making him richer?Time to clean house and get all you can before January.
Because it would be like trying to put out a forrest fire, with a dixie cup of water.

It might give a short term relief, a month at max.

Then prices would go back up even higher than before.
He's waiting for gas to hit $5 a gallon...er...CORRECTION:

SIX DOLLARS A GALLON.
because him and all his rich oil buddies are making to much money this way
