Wouldn't it be AWESOME if the US started tapping into our oil reserves....?

And depleted them before we found a viable alternative?

Drill baby drill!!!Wouldn't it be AWESOME if the US started tapping into our oil reserves....?
Carter predicted this 30 years ago, and everyone laughed at him:

Carter Tried To Stop Bush's Energy Disasters - 28 Years Ago

by Thom Hartmann

In his recent news conference, George Bush Jr. suggested that our nation's ';problem'; with high gasoline prices was caused by the lack of a national energy policy, and tried to blame it all on Bill Clinton. First, Junior said, ';This is a problem that's been a long time in coming. We haven't had an energy policy in this country.';

This was followed by, ';That's exactly what I've been saying to the American people -- 10 years ago if we'd had an energy strategy, we would be able to diversify away from foreign dependence. And -- but we haven't done that. And now we find ourselves in the fix we're in.'; As is so often the case, Bush was lying.

Consider President Jimmy Carter's April 18, 1977 speech. Since it was given nearly three decades ago, when many of the reporters in Bush's White House were children, it's understandable that they don't remember it. But it's inexcusable that Bush and the mainstream media (which, after all, has the ability to do research) would completely ignore it. It was the speech that established the strategic petroleum reserve, birthed the modern solar power industry, led to the insulation of millions of American homes, and established America's first national energy policy. ';With the exception of preventing war,'; said Jimmy Carter, a man of peace, ';this is the greatest challenge our country will face during our lifetimes.';

At least Carter tried. What did Reagan, Bush 1, and Bush 2 do about it? Not a thing. Report Abuse

Wait, I thought Bush was in bed with the oil companies!! Wouldn't he try to drill? Yes, he would. So this blame, by Dr. Skank's logic, rests solely on Congress who is in bed with the Environmentalists and the Global Warming Crowd. My logic is different, but still concludes that Congress is to blame. Report Abuse

Shell oil has found a way in which we can ';brew'; our own oil from oil shale. Which means we can have an infinite supply.

The Myth Of Peak Oil

';The existence of self-renewing oil fields shatters the peak oil myth';

We have oil reserves in Alaska that are bigger than the one's in Saudi Arabia but you know how they play the game. They will make as much money as they can and then let us know about that. Remember, we use oil for everything in our society.
The doomsday scenarios are flawed according to many scientists, we will never run out of oil.

Robert C why don't you educate me, but first tell me why I should believe you instead of what thousands of scientists say? I bet you believe in global warming to don't you?

It would be even more awesome to stop federally subsidizing white flight urban sprawl.
We have a LONG time before we need to worry about the amount of oil left. If we cant find an alternative by then, then we definitly had the wrong scientists working on that project.
Wearing your Al Gore underwear a little too tight ain't you gramps?
thats what bush wants.
