Should Bush release the oil reserves to help lower the price of gasoline?

maybe by flooding the market with oil..the price of gas will go down...why doesnt U.S.Goverment buy oil form Saudis and resell it to American oil companys ..I heard it cost the Saudis only a dollar to pump out a barrel of oil..so should the goverment buy oil form our so called friends at a discount ..or maybe just ask the Iraqis for a discount..what gives..thanks..Should Bush release the oil reserves to help lower the price of gasoline?
No, the SPR is for emergencies ONLY!!Should Bush release the oil reserves to help lower the price of gasoline?
Absolutely not ! Those reserves are there for national emergency, and that is where they will stay.

It will be interesting to learn more about the recent oil study of the North Dakota Bakken Reservoir and the 3.6 billion barrels of light crude just waiting to be plucked out of the oil shale there. It sounds like a viable reason to see oil prices falling like a rock, but what do I know !

They claim that a new technique of horizontel drilling will finally make it feasible for drillers to get this oil out of the ground with minimal effort ! Sounds too good to true !
thats only about 750,000 barrels a day, which would not really cause any drop in the prices~!!!

we re paying off our debts to Saudi Arabia by letting them jump up the prices to whatever they want, Bush doesnt go their to discuss the oil prices, this is how we pay off the debt that Bush has piled up in loans we have with Saudi Arabia~!!!

last time he went he got a basketful of gold chains and diamonds for gifts, the Secret Service had to carry the big basketfuls of gifts for him~!!!!

tis good to be King~!!!
No, Bush shouldn't release the reserves. Clinton did it for Gore in 1999 and the price dropped about $0.10 per gallon, which isn't much of a difference when you're looking at $3.75/gallon.

As for our 'friends' the Saudis, they are holding billions of US currency which has an open market value of 35% less than it did in 2002. It's all Bush can do right now to keep them from dumping the dollar and trading in Euros.
I am sure that his Republican Economic Advisers are telling Bush that it is not a prudent move to release the oil reserves at this time.

I just wonder where where these advisors in the last few years as we charged toward this recession/depression spiral? Do they really give a @@@@? It sure does not look like it!
no.

1. it's for super bad emergencies, and we're really not in one... at least, not yet.

2. it wont lower prices. OPEC will simply decreace its exports and bump up it's prices so any price decreace created by opening the reserves would be offset by the members of OPEC cutting us off at the knees
It does not matter how much oil we have. We have only a few refineries. If your sitting on a mountain of crude but have no way to refine it, that does you no good. That said are friends the ultra radical environmentalists have done everything in their power to make the gas prices go up.
No, what will happen if we have another hurricane and some refineries get taken off-line again???It is for an emergency...

Our government should not be in the business of trading oil and oil futures...supply and demand, if people were just to conserve a little bit, the price would drop...
No--- who cares?

It would only lower the prices for a few hours.

Because everyone knows that the Oil Reserves would need to buy Oil to replace what they let loose.

WE COULD FORCE THE DEMOCRATS TO ALLOW US TO DRILL.

Oooops the Democrats are TOO Powerful, now!!!!
Too bad the hue and cry and clamor of the 'no blood for oil' crowd is not true because it would be nice if the sacrifices our military endures didn't enrich the CPC.

Why America isn't receiving Iraqi petroleum is a question that goes directly to Bush and Cheney
If the problem was supply and demand, I could see it.

But it's not. It's the dollar. If anything, he should be kicking Bernacke in the family jewels repeatedly for continuing to lower interest rates.
Before the truly stupid put the Dems in control of the house we had high gas prices, they promised to bring them down, now we have high gas prices and they are in control, how about those promises, oh they were lies, thank you stupid people.
When the US Dollar is worth a Dollar once again you will see it reflected in the price of oil, however the longer we have to wait the less the difference will be.
No, why should we? If the price of oil keeps going up and shortages develope, what will we do if we release our reserve just to lower prices? We should keep the reserve unitl we really, really need it
No way!!!
